You have maybe heard of the human design system. Like the astrological chart, it’s a system of personality analysis that is gaining popularity around the world.
This system was channeled and founded by Ra Uru Hu, which combines astrology, the I Ching, the Kabbalah, the Hindu-Brahminic system, and other ancient wisdom traditions with modern science to create a unique and powerful tool for understanding yourself and most importantly, what makes you tick.
Also known as a BodyGraph, the Human Design Chart is a visual representation of a person’s unique configuration of these elements. At its core, human design is based on the idea that we are all born with a specific design, or blueprint, that determines our strengths, weaknesses, and purpose in life. This design is made up of a combination of our genetics, environment, and life experiences, and can be analyzed using a complex system of symbols, numbers and charts.
Read on to learn more about the chart and how it affects our personalities and decisions.
What Is the Human Design Chart?
The chart itself is comprised of nine geometric shapes (Centers), 64 numbers in squares (Gates), 36 channels connecting those Centers, and information about Profile and Type. Each aspect of the chart represents different facets of personality, behaviors, and potential.
Centers
The nine centers are comparable to your body’s chakras. Each center corresponds to a specific aspect of life, such as communication, love, or thought, and they can be defined (colored) or undefined (white), signifying different characteristics.
Gates
The gates correspond to the 64 hexagrams of the I Ching, each carrying a specific meaning. If a gate is activated in your chart, it indicates a particular energy that you carry.
Channels
Channels are the lines connecting your centers. If a channel is fully activated (both gates at the ends are activated), it “defines” the centers it connects, bringing a consistent energy in the areas those centers and the channel represent.
Profile
The profile is a pair of numbers that suggests the role you are meant play in life, how you interact with others, and how you are perceived.
Authority
This part of the chart indicates your most reliable decision-making strategy.
Your unique Human Design chart is generated using the date, time, and place of your birth, similar to a natal chart in astrology, and like all personality frameworks, it is a tool for exploration to be used as a guide rather than a definitive statement about who you are or how you should behave.
What Are the Types of Human Design?
One of the key concepts in human design is the idea that we all have a “type.” There are four main types, each with its own strengths and weaknesses.
Generators
Generators are naturally energetic and productive, but they sometimes struggle to find direction and purpose in life.
Manifestors
These individuals are natural leaders and innovators, however they may have significant challenges with authority and are prone to impulsive behavior.
Projectors
These people are skilled at guiding and directing others. They may struggle with feelings of rejection or not being recognized for their contributions.
Reflectors
As the name suggests, reflectors are highly intuitive and sensitive, and may have difficulty setting boundaries and making decisions.
